Intuition, Higher powers, mystery, and the subconscious mind.
Together, The Beauty Shop team channels the wisdom, serenity, and knowledge of The High Priestess.
Often described as the guardian of the unconscious, The high priestess sits in front of the thin veil of awareness, which is all that separates us from our inner selves. She is wearing the crown of Isis symbolizing the Triple Goddess.
In her lap, she holds a half-revealed and half-concealed tablet, representative of the exoteric and the esoteric teachings and higher knowledge. The moon under her left foot shows her dominion over pure intuition. The palm indicates fertility of the mind and the cube on which she sits is the earth. The planet associated with the High Priestess is the Moon.

Queen of cups
LIZ GILL NEILSON
PARTNER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
As our Queen of Cups, Liz is admired for her fairness and honesty. Often compared to a brand healer, counsellor or psychic, she always seems to discover exactly the right solution to design problems. She easily tunes in to and is able to help clients make sense of a project in a sensitive and compassionate manner, reflecting the hidden depths of their brand back to them, so they can see their own mysteries for themselves. Highly imaginative and artistically gifted, she is often involved in creative or literary pursuits, and holds degrees in visual arts and communication design from Columbia University and Pacific Northwest College of Art, and a Residency at Caldera Arts Center, and co-founder of VISIBLE.
Queen of Swords
PARTNER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR
As our Queen of Swords, Jen has an innate ability to tell it like it is in all matters of design and ‘biznis’. A quick thinker and highly perceptive – direction, concept, and manifestation are Jen’s realm in the studio, where she cuts straight to the point to help solve design problems quickly and directs our work towards typographic excellence. Jen provides team and project direction based on 18 years of design experience. Enthusiastic to share her expertise, Jen has taught typography, design systems, information design, thesis courses, and workshops, and developed program curriculum for PNCA’s Continuing Education Graphic Design certificate program. Jen is owner and collector @eravintagegoods, and and co-founder of VISIBLE.
INTERACTIVE and design LEAD
As our Magician, Julie’s skills create the bridge between the alchemy of technology and the world of humanity. With the ability to harness the power of code and design and channel and direct it into the physical plane, she helps to manifest our clients goals by utilizing her mastery of tools and resources to make the impossible possible with a love for the pixel sized details. Her alchemical gift is not only limited to the interactive realm, but also extends to brand and print design, and team mentorship. Julie is a graduate of, and now teaches in, Portland State University’s Interactive Design program. Julie’s project, Shout: A Collection of Coming Out Stories was winner of the 2014 NW Regional AIGA Exhibition. Julie is co-founder of VISIBLE.
Kristin HOWE Wilson
Much like the figure on the Temperance tarot card, Kristin is our winged angel, working to bring about balance, adaptation, and coordination to our studio and production schedule. Her ability to keep calm in situations of tight deadlines and changing project needs gives the impression of a swan, paddling swiftly underneath the water but appearing graceful and elegant on the surface. Kristin’s balanced perspective and talents in copywriting and illustration, bring a beautiful synergy to our studio that leverages the right mix of talents, experience, ability and skills. Kristin is also Executive Director of VISIBLE.
Representing the Strength tarot figure, Jules is often accompanied by her delightful beast Zoey in the studio, where their presence lends a purity of spirit and quiet strength to our team. With an illustration and hand-lettering style that bridges a gap between Jessica Hische and Ed Roth, Jules’ design work balances a duality between artistic intuition and feminine sophistication. Her mastery of the tools of her craft - a Wacom tablet, calligraphy pen, and mouse, along with the ability to harness her talents and to use them for the highest good with courage, patience, determination, and focus bring an undeniable strength to all the projects she works on.
knight of cups
Kirk is truly our studio’s Knight of Cups. A branding messenger channeling calmness and peace, his horse is an Apple Macbook Pro, and his working process functioning as wings – a traditional tarot symbol of the creative imagination. Once this Knight encounters his inspiration, he then undertakes a journey of imagination and creativity to which the unconscious has impelled him. When working with Kirk, we can always count on an intuitive approach to branding which often takes the final form as a message, invitation, or the arrival of someone or something, in an unexpected and delightful way.
Don’t let Amy’s tarot title scare you, the type of Justice her copywriting skills serve are exactly what your project needs: Truth, impartiality and authenticity. Her sword is double-edged, cutting both ways, to both edit and create content. It is point-up, signifying victory. The sword in her right hand demonstrates the logical, well-ordered mindset necessary to dispense great content. The scales are in her left, intuitive hand, showing that logic must be balanced by the intuition. Your brand cannot become honest without extending that honesty to yourself and others, and Amy can help you do just that.
Kings of Swords & cups
Ian and Jason Larson
The King wears a blue tunic, symbolic of a desire for spiritual understanding, and a purple cape, symbolic of compassion combined with intellect. The back of his throne is decorated with butterflies (transformation), crescent moons and an angel just near his left ear, positioned as if to give him subtle guidance. The sky is relatively clear with a few clouds, representing general mental clarity. The trees in the background appear motionless and reflect the stern judgement of the King.
he King of Cups sits on his throne on a grey stone block, calmly in the midst of a turbulent sea the symbol of spirit and creativity and represents the balance of the unconscious with the conscious. These images are a sign that the unconscious has been allowed to break through and has been recognized by the King, yet it remains within his power and does not overwhelm him. The King of Cups does not repress his emotions and unconscious impulses but has learned to accept and deal with them in a mature and balanced manner.

The Lovers represent perfection, harmony and mutual attractiveness. Their trust in one another gives them strength and confidence to overcome the obstacles in life. The bond that the two lovers has created is incredibly strong. represents the establishment of a personal belief system and becoming clearer about your own values. This is a time when you are figuring out what you stand for and what your personal philosophy on life is. Having gone through the indoctrination of the Hierophant, you are now ready to establish your own belief system and make up your own mind about what is and what is not important in life. This is also a time when you need to stay true to yourself and be as authentic and genuine as possible. When the Lovers card appears in a reading, it is important to think about what decisions and choices you are facing. The fact that the Lovers is a Major Arcana card indicates that these decisions or choices are incredibly important and significant so it is essential that you choose the right path. There may be an easy option available but you will need to ask yourself whether this is the right path for you in the long run. Oftentimes, it is the more difficult path that will bring you the greatest benefit, particularly on a deeper level.
